Weaving Hope: A Circle of Women, Spirit, and Story

At a time when the world was grappling with division and conflict (and still is), twenty-six courageous and compassionate women came together for Weaving Our Stories: Interfaith Women’s+ Conference, held on October 4-6, 2024. Rooted in eight diverse spiritual traditions and leanings, we intentionally built a sacred space grounded in the shared values of Peace, Respect, Kindness, and Openness.

We opened our gathering with The Words that Came Before All Else, graciously shared by Knowledge Carrier and Elder Norma General Lickers, setting the tone for a weekend of deep connection and healing.

Niki Andre gently guided us inward—into our bodies, our breath, and our balance—teaching us how to lean into one another and into trust.

A highlight of the weekend was the keynote address by Dr. Amira Ayad, who led us through the transformative “7 I’s” Journey toward Joy and Healing. With clarity, warmth, and lighthearted humour that made deep truths easier to hold, Amira invited us into meaningful self-reflection and encouraged us to practice self-compassion in real, tangible ways. She also challenged us to consider what our own Call to Adventure might be—what next steps we’re being invited to take in our personal growth, healing, or service to others—and to move toward them with intention and courage.

We wove our learning through artistic expression— stitching our stories through fabric journaling with Amira, and a beautiful exploration of brokenness and beauty through glass mosaic led by the gifted artist and activist, Jenny Horseman.

Our stories flowed—shared in small groups, on sunlit patios, and around the glowing campfire late into the night.
By the end of the weekend, we were transformed. What began as a gathering had blossomed into a community, united by strength, love, and a shared commitment to weaving new, hopeful stories into a world that so deeply needs them.
