Sister Water and the Sultan – Exploring our Spiritual Lives with Francis of Assisi (Online course/retreat – 4 evenings)
With Len Desroches
January 6 - 27, 2021
Nourish your soul this winter with an online guided retreat/course with leader Len Desroches, hosted by the Five Oaks Centre.
How do we live lovingly with each other – especially as we are divided by culture, nationality, religion and more? How do we live responsibly and lovingly with the natural world? Francis of Assisi lived by the words of the anonymous poem often attributed to him: “Lord make me an instrument of thy peace, where there is hatred let me sow love.” Francis was a medieval friar, deacon and preacher who is known, not only for his love of nature and the environment but also how he engaged deeply in the political and social issues of his day – including a powerful encounter with the Muslim Sultan of Egypt.
Join a small group in January for this 4-week session hosted by Five Oaks. We will meet once per week on Wednesday evenings on zoom for a 1.5 hour session of lecture, reflections, conversation and video. Len will be our guide on this winter retreat with the slumbering earth, and St Francis.
