Who owns Five Oaks and who attends its programs and events?
Five Oaks is an educational centre of The United Church of Canada and thereby owned by the United Church. Our programs are enjoyed by people from a wide variety of Christian and other faith traditions, and our facilities are available for use by a great variety of religious and community groups.

How do I get to Five Oaks?
By car, from Highway 403 and Rest Acres Road, proceed south on Rest Acres to Bethel Road (the first cross road south of the highway). Travel east on Bethel Road which brings you directly into Five Oaks. Find a more detailed map within the 'Location, Maps and Trails' section of this website.

By train, go to Brantford and take a taxi from there for a cost of approximately $15-$17. Viarail provides frequent trains to Brantford. Check out their website for schedules and fares. By Airplane, we are close to Toronto International (1-1/2 hr) , and John C Munro airport in nearby Hamilton. Transportation to Five Oaks from the airports can be arranged by calling AIRLINK 519-756-1944.

What do I need to bring?
Bring along what you would normally take for a motel stay including your toiletries and shampoo. Linens and towels are provided. Check each programme for any special instruction.

What facilities does Five Oaks provide?
We provide comfortable bedrooms and meeting rooms of various sizes including a large room that can accommodate 90 people, with a screen for projection, overhead projector, flip charts, and piano. We also provide recreational facilities such as hiking trails, swimming pool, volleyball, basketball and shuffleboard court. Cycling trails are available throughout the area. The beautiful Grand River Book Store and Video Library is also on site. You can contact the book store at 1-888-668-0871.

Does Five Oaks accommodate special diets?
We are accustomed to accommodating most special diets and will do our best to serve you. Please let us know about your special dietary needs before coming.

How many people can Five Oaks accommodate?
In the summer our capacity is 160; in the winter, it is 95.

Is Five Oaks air conditioned? During the summer we rely upon our Carolinian forest to help cool us down as well as fans provided in every room.

Are there wild animals around Five Oaks?
While we do enjoy being in the midst of a natural forested setting, we have no wild animals that pose a threat or danger.

Can I bring my pet? Wear my favourite perfume?
Five Oaks welcomes all people. Consequently we cannot allow pets on site due to allergies and other aversions to animals. We are open to making exceptions for seeing eye, and hearing ear dogs. We also discourage the use of toiletries that create any kind of odour such as perfume. Once again, we strive to make Five Oaks a healthy place for all.

Can we drink wine and beer at Five Oaks?
Please discuss your plans when making your booking with the Operations Manager.

Can we drink the water at Five Oaks?
No problem! We have good drinking water and it's tested every day for assurance, and monitored weekly by local Health Unit.

Is Five Oaks in compliance with PIPEDA?
Yes.
